   LEVEL 2 PLUMBING APPRENTICESHIP 

PLUMBING AND HEATING (6189-11) LEVEL 2 DIPLOMA DURATION 
 
Plumbing And Heating (6189-11) is a two year course with attendance at college for 1 day per week for 35 weeks per year known as day release. 
 
INTRODUCTION 
 
To qualify for an Apprenticeship you must secure employment in the working sector of Plumbing. To commence the Plumbing Framework it is recommend that you have GCSE grades C or above in English, Science, Maths and Design Technology. If you do not have these grades or if you do not have your results yet, then entry is at the discretion of the College and those entrants must sit and pass an aptitude test designed. 
 
This qualification covers all the essential knowledge and skills needed for a successful career in domestic Plumbing and Heating. This Level 2 apprenticeship is delivered at our Northampton Centre which is located with strong transport links with Birmingham, Leicester, Milton Keynes, Oxford, Peterborough, Coventry, Corby, Wellingborough, Kettering, Rushden and Daventry. Situated with-in a short drive from the M1, M6, A14 and a 10 min walk from the new train station getting to EAS could not be easier. 

CONTENT 

Understand how to communicate with others in building services engineering. 
Understand how to apply environmental measures in building services engineering. 
Understand how to apply scientific principles in MES. 
Apply safe working practices in building services engineering working environments. 
Install and maintain domestic plumbing and heating systems. 
Understand and carry out site preparation, and pipework. fabrication techniques for domestic plumbing and heating systems. 
Understand and apply domestic cold water system installation and maintenance techniques. 
Understand and apply domestic hot water system installation and maintenance techniques. 
Understand and apply domestic central heating system installation and maintenance techniques. 
Understand and apply domestic rainwater system installation and maintenance techniques. 
Understand and apply domestic above ground drainage system installation and maintenance techniques. 
Understand and carry out safe working practices in building services engineering. 
 
You will have numorous practical assessments to complete and you'll will collect evidence from work and produce a portfolio which needs to be assessed before your full certificate is awarded.

FUNCTIONAL SKILLS 
Functional Skills are skills that will help you become an effective member of staff in any place of work. They help you to become flexible and adaptable and therefore a highly valued member of the team. 
 
The Functional Skills required for the Plumbing Framework are: 
 
Maths 
English 
ICT 
 
The Functional Skills are completed by a portfolio of evidence and an exam (depending on your GCSE grades).  
 
TEACHING METHODS 
The programme is college based and you will be required to attend theory lessons. 
 
 

FUNDING / COSTS 

APPRENTICESHIP Funding and Costs 
 
Currently for the 2017 / 2018 academic year it will cost you relatively nothing to take on an Apprentice. Below are the current rules -  
 
16-18 year olds - If you take on anyone within this age range you will not pay a penny. You will also be inline for a £1000.00 grant 
19+ - you be asked to make a contribrution of 10% of the course costs. Currently this is only £500.00 for Level 2s and £600.00 for Level 3s 
if you are a Levy payer then you will be paying for all the training via your digital account.

ONSITE ASSESSMENTS 
 
Need help with converting your old Tech Certs 6129 or 6035? We can help you gain a full Level 2 certificate. The full cost for delivery is £1000.00 from start to finish. No Hiden Costs.
